What ResusX:ReUnion Has Taught Me

I've been running medical education conferences for a very long time and they have all been very rewarding, but this last conference was different. We ran our 5th annual ResusX conference in Philly from Septebmer 16-20. There were four pre-conference workshops including an airway, ultrasound, procedural and a literature review.

ResusX:ReUnion was five days of pure resuscitation magic with amazing educators, enthusiastic attendees, and a feeling of collaboration that I have rarely felt before. I met physcians, nurses, NPs, PAs, respiratory therapists, paramedics, students....all coming together to take their resuscitation skills to the next level.

There were no attitudes, no egos...just collegiality at its finest and a common goal to help our sickest patients get back home to their families. The best part of this all was, this was not Haney Mallemat's conference...it belonged to everyone. Everyone belonged and was invested in the message. I'm very proud of what ResusX:ReUnion has evolved into and I'm inspired for the next one in May of 2025.

Thank you for everyone who attended and for those who didn't you'll be able to watch on replay soon. On that note, let's get straight into the newsletter...

ResusX:ReUnion Was a Blast!

ResusX:ReUnion was an absolutely fantastic educational, fun, and social event that brought people from all over the world....literally. Some people traveled from Australia, Austria, and Qatar just to be with us in Philadelphia. @thevascularguy did a great job taking videos and photos, and this reel is just one example of it all.

Barking Up The Right Tree Next time you give your patient an aspirin, consider this: you're tapping into a medical tradition thousands of years old! Long before pharmacies and prescriptions, ancient Sumerians, Egyptians, Greeks like Hippocrates, and Romans were all onto a secret weapon for pain and fever relief: the humble willow tree. They instinctively understood its power, utilizing its ...

Dads Who Deliver When it comes to parenting, some dads really go the extra mile! Take the male seahorse, for instance. In an interesting twist on traditional roles, the female seahorse actually deposits her eggs into a specialized pouch on the male. He then takes over, fertilizing and incubating them until they're ready to hatch. Talk about being hands-on, or rather, pouch-on! This incredib...

Ur-ine Luck! Medicine is Much Better Now From medieval "urine wheels" to the widespread practice of bloodletting, medical history is brimming with fascinating, and often startling, approaches to health and disease. For centuries, physicians relied on visual examinations of bodily fluids, with "uroscopy" becoming a cornerstone of diagnosis. This involved meticulously observing the color, cl...
